Charging your Nissan LEAF is easy, whether you're at home or on-the-go. Plug into a wall charger or visit any one out of the thousands of charging stations throughout the UK.

Charging your LEAF at home [1]

Level 2 Charging (with a professionally installed wall unit)

LEAF - * Full charge in around 7.5 hours
LEAF e+ - * Full charge in around 11 hours[2]

  1. Ensure that your Nissan LEAF is turned off
  2. Open the charge port door
  3. Connect the nozzle of the wall unit into your LEAF’s Level 2 port (the smaller one).
  4. When the battery reaches full, the Nissan LEAF will stop charging on its own.

If you’re in a pinch, you can take advantage of trickle charging by purchasing the optional EVSE cable for your LEAF and plugging into a designated 230V outlet. A LEAF can charge to full in 21 hours, while a LEAF e+ reach a full charge in 31 hours.

* Charging times based on standard AC cable and utilises the car's 6.6kW max AC charging rate, found in most typical new AC home chargers.

Level 3 Fast Charging[2]

LEAF - From 20%-80% charge in around 60 minutes
LEAF e+ - From 20%-80% in around 90 minutes

  1. Park at a CHAdeMO DC fast charger
  2. Ensure that your Nissan LEAF is turned off
  3. Open the charge port door
  4. Connect the charging nozzle to the LEAF’s Level 3 port (the larger one).

Level 2 Charging[2]

LEAF - Full charge in 7.5 hours
LEAF e+ - Full charge in 11.5 hours

  1. Park at a CHAdeMO charger
  2. Ensure that your Nissan LEAF is turned off
  3. Open the charge port door
  4. Connect the charging nozzle to the LEAF’s Level 2 port (the smaller one).

Setting a charge timer

Via your Nissan LEAF touch-screen

  1. If you wish to set a timer to charge at a later time, go to Settings on your Nissan’s touch-screen display
  2. Select “Charge Timer1” or “Charge Timer2”
  3. Turn on the timer by selecting “Timer”
  4. Select “Start Time” and input the time you wish your charge to start
  5. Select “End Time” and input the time you wish your charge to finish
  6. Select “Days” and choose the days of the week you want the charge timer to be activated

Starting a charge remotely

Via the NissanConnect EV & Services app

  1. Ensure that your Nissan LEAF is turned off
  2. Open your charging port
  3. Connect your Level 2 or Level 3 CHAdeMO charging cord to the corresponding port on your Nissan LEAF
  4. Plug your Level 2 or Level 3 CHAdeMO charging cord into the corresponding wall plug or charger
  5. Open the NissanConnect EV & Services app and press “Charging Start” on the home screen

 

Important terms you should know

  • AC – Alternating current. It reverses direction at regular intervals.
  • DC – Direct Current. It moves in one constant direction and provides faster charging times.
  • CHAdeMO – A quick charging standard that allows for charging capabilities up to 50kW at public charging stations.

The time taken for successive quick charging can take longer if the battery temperature activates the battery safeguarding technology.
